The Beauty Exchange is a curated marketplace for beauty products that deserve a second life: the serum that didn't suit you, the duplicate gift, the shade that wasn't quite right. It is for anyone in Aotearoa with genuine products in good condition, whether that is one item from your drawer or a regular shop.

Every seller and every listing is reviewed by a person before it goes live, so buyers can trust what they find here.

Step by step

How it works

  1. Create your shop

    Sign up with your email, choose a shop name, and tell buyers a little about what you sell (optional)

  2. We review and approve your shop

    Every seller is checked by hand before they can trade. Approval usually takes less than a day.

  3. Connect Stripe

    Payouts run through Stripe, so you set up your account with them directly. Your listings can be prepared before this is done, but they cannot go live until it is.

  4. List an item

    Add photos, a description, condition, price, and the NZ Post bag size it ships in. Offer local pickup as well if you would like to.

  5. We review each listing

    Listings are checked against the product guidelines below. If something needs changing, you will be told why.

  6. It goes live

    Your item appears on the storefront and in your shop profile, where buyers can browse and search for it.

  7. You post it when it sells

    You are notified of the sale, send the item, and mark it as shipped in your portal, with a tracking number if you have one.

  8. You are paid

    Your share of the sale is released to your Stripe account seven days after the buyer pays.

The rules

What you can sell

Skincare, makeup, haircare, fragrance and tools. New and boxed, new and unboxed, gently used once, or gently used and about three-quarters full. You confirm each of these when you submit a listing, and we check them before it goes live.

  • The item is genuine. No fakes or replicas.
  • Its condition is exactly as photographed and described.
  • The photos are of the actual item being sold, not stock imagery.
  • Expiry or best-before is disclosed where it applies.
  • It has been stored cool, dry and out of direct sunlight.

Anything that does not meet the guidelines is declined with a reason, so you can correct it and submit again.

What it costs

Fees

Listing is free. The Beauty Exchange takes an 18% commission on each sale, leaving 82% paid out to you!

Getting it there

Shipping

You choose the NZ Post bag size for each listing, and the buyer pays the corresponding shipping at checkout. Rural addresses add a surcharge automatically. If you are happy to hand items over in person, you can also offer local pickup, and buyers can choose it at checkout.
